We aren't just a news and reviews site, we are a community. Alongside the main story objectives, there are optional side stories that offer additional context and world-building that pulls you directly into its vast universe. Your source for everything Nintendo Switch. Triangle Strategy provides a high-quality and engaging narrative, primarily told through dialogue, accompanied by talented and believable voice actors throughout the entire game. I just want to play the damn thing! Project Triangle Strategy (Working Title Free Demo Available Now I think Scales of Conviction is actually a great name for the game, but I’m not a marketing person so who knows. “ Project Triangle Strategy” is fine as a working title, but we need something a little sexier for a final name. That’s probably the most disappointing part of the whole announcement – aside from the name, I guess. The demo gave me just enough to get my hype as hell for the full release, for which we have no expected launch date. I can’t wait to see what other kinds of terrain elements can be manipulated in this way in the full game. So, using melted ice walls you can create a field of water that increases the damage range of the lightning bolt to more enemies than some spells with larger inherent target areas. Another character can cast a lightning bolt the bolt will disperse and damage any enemy standing in adjacent submerged tiles. Use fire to melt icy terrain, then use lightning to electrify the remaining pool of water. The relationships between the various units are built upon in optional side-cutscenes, which add depth and charm to most of the cast. Position units on higher ground to gain the advantage with increased range. However, it leaves behind standing water on the tiles where the wall used to be. The characters are one of the stronger aspects of Triangle Strategy, with the main cast and many of the optional characters standing out as characters worth following. The cast does such a good job that, at various story points when characters would die, I found myself actively thinking 'dang, I’m not going to hear their voice again.' Triangle Strategy focuses. For instance, one character can summon a small ice wall that melts after a few turns. The voice acting is very uneven, which is probably due to covid complications and a director who wasnt up to the task. The second battle (of the route I chose, anyway) introduces even more variety to your tactical options by adding new characteristics to the battlefield itself. Im a big Tactics Ogre fan and think Triangle Strategy is just better, full stop. Funneling enemy troops into the teeth of your attack is a potent strategy for overcoming the enemies’ superior numbers and protecting your weaker units, and I look forward to exploring this more fully in the full game. It introduces a few cool ideas for controlling the conditions of the battlefield, such as the ability to summon barriers to allow players to control the movement of enemy units to a degree. The basics of moving units and attacking are the same as most any strategy RPG you care to name. The combat mechanics are fairly standard for the first of the game’s two scenarios.
